This week I've been doing a lot of this, and as I've put my shovel and spades away I've realised how amazing I feel.. not only physically but mentally too!
Now research has already suggested that gardening does improve your health and we've known this for generations, I can 100% now see how!
We know it's important to have "'me time" and do different things (one thing a day your uncomfortable with) and this is especially important as we become more technologically obsessed
Did you know that gardening is very beneficial in weight management and helps to reduce the risk of heart related illnesses and other health conditions such as osteoporosis?
Gardening has also been shown to decrease your cortisol levels (the stress hormone) and this is the point I want to expand on..
As I continued pulling the weeds I came to a realisation that I was in an altered state of consciousness, or in the zone such as that as when your doing yoga or mediation. It felt magical and like I was connecting with myself spiritually, I could feel the meaning of life, and I felt incredibly grateful of my life
The purpose of this is instead of watching too much tv, spending time playing games and wondering why life is so stressful, pick up some gardening tools and get your hands dirty...
... trust me, you'll feel the mental health benefits of doing so especially when you have this many bags full of weeds!
